Together with X-Rite, two other US-based companies were involved to provide the calibration tools and training: THX, a entertainment technology firm, is providing video calibration training to SKY Brazil’s team of technicians. Software firm SpectraCal is providing the calibration software.
Eduardo Belham, service innovation director at SKY Brazil, said: “We believe that professional TV calibration greatly enhances viewers’ overall watching experience: color values are more accurate, the skin tones are more natural and lifelike, shadow and highlight detail are maximized, and films more accurately represent what their directors intended.”
Derek Smith, CEO of SpectraCal, said: “X-Rite’s i1Display2 is sold both to consumers and to professionals in industries where color is mission-critical for use in calibrating all types of monitors. But in recent months, it has become our biggest seller for calibrating televisions.”
Iris Mangelschots, senior vice president of sales and marketing at X-Rite, said: “We're thrilled to see our hardware recognized for its precision and selected for what is essentially the largest video calibration project in the world.”
