GE Healthcare has appointed William Denman as its new chief medical officer (CMO). Mr Denman will provide the clinical direction for GE, working with the global quality, regulatory and medical organization to improve process rigor around clinical trial design, academic research partnerships, and medical risk assessments.
Mr Denman also will lead all clinical and evidence generation strategies, driving technology and scientific synergies across all of GE Healthcare. He will be part of GE Healthcare’s newly expanded global quality, regulatory and medical organization, led by chief quality officer Dee Mellor.
Mr Denman is the former CMO and vice president of medical affairs for Covidien, where he was responsible for strategic direction of medical affairs, clinical affairs and healthcare economics and outcomes across Covidien’s entire medical device sector. He is currently involved in multiple clinical and basic science research projects at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Ms Mellor said: “The depth of Dr. Denman’s medical expertise, his general management experience and proven leadership skills makes him ideally suited to take on the challenges of this critical role. Mr Denman will help us deliver GE Healthcare’s healthymagination strategy of lowering costs, increasing access and improving quality.”
