KBR Subsidiary Bags $94m Construction Services Contract

The Building Group, a subsidiary of KBR, has bagged a $94m contract from Piedmont Healthcare to provide pre-construction and construction services for a replacement facility for Piedmont Newnan Hospital in  Newnan, Georgia.

When complete, the new hospital is expected to be the tallest building in the southwest metropolitan Atlanta area. The Building Group's Nashville and Atlanta offices are responsible for this significant healthcare construction project, which represents the first phase of a long-term building program planned for this campus.

The all-new nine-story, 362,500-square-foot replacement facility for Piedmont Newnan Hospital will include a total of 136 beds that are supported by eight operating rooms and an emergency department with 23 patient exam rooms.

The project is designed to achieve LEED silver certification. Perkins+Will is the architect of record. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2010 with completion slated for early 2012.

Luther Cochrane, senior vice president of KBR and chairman of the Building Group, said: “The Building Group is proud to have been selected to work with Piedmont Newnan and Perkins+Will on this project which is of enormous significance to Newnan and greater Atlanta and we look forward to being part of the team which delivers this outstanding and much-needed facility.”

avatar Building groups consider their efforts well lauded only by way of contracts of these types, say contracts involving hospitals and other establishment including hotels and educational institutions. The Building Group should consider itself very much honored by this contract that will benefit KBR by a long way.
